The easiest safari day from Arusha, and the only park in Tanzania where lions climb trees.
Manyara is famous for them. Nobody can promise a sighting, but this is the park where it happens.
The groundwater forest holds some of the most relaxed elephants in the northern circuit.
Thousands of them along the shoreline, with hippo pools further round.
Around two hours each way, which leaves a genuinely long day in the park rather than in the car.

We collect you from your hotel and drive south west along the Rift Valley escarpment.
At the base of the escarpment, where blue monkeys and baboons live in the canopy.
Elephant among the mahogany, then out onto the open floodplain towards the lake.
Lunch at a viewpoint over the lake, with the escarpment rising behind you.
Hippo pools, flamingos, and the acacia woodland where the lions rest in the branches.
Back through Mto wa Mbu.
